Their wide spectrum of vivid colours make flowers a popular subject for photography.

This month's challenge was to compose a photo featuring a single bloom as the subject. In macro mode, with its small depth of field, the camera can focus on the subject at close range, to produce a sharp image of the bloom, while the background will be blurred and thus less prominent.
