(A lesson from the Internet Class)
I would like to thank all the good people who sent me some marvellous Christmas Cards. It was also very gratifying to have received the numerous replies to my Season’s greetings to you in Wingdings.

There has been a lot of Virus Alerts sent around lately. Some of them are genuine; others are just plain hoaxes. Unfortunately we can’t be complacent about this. Sometimes even the most trusted of our friends spread so called Trojan Horses to us unintentionally. These viruses are hidden deep inside your Outlook Express. At the present it does not affect any other form of INTERNET MESSAGES like HOTMAIL, YAHOO, etc.

If you are interested in what a Trojan Horse is you can look it up in your favourite Search Engine. I am using Google at the moment. It is superfast, very efficient and easy to use. It found 186.00 references to Trojan in 14 seconds. I think it is hard to beat. For those people who use apcstart as a Homepage they can find it under the TAB ESSENTIALS. You can also access it by simply typing ’google.com’ in the ADDRESS BAR of your HOMEPAGE.

I cannot overstress the importance of having a good, efficient ANTIVIRUS program installed in your PC. Do have a look at www.ca.com/worldwide to find out about the latest on different viruses on the NET. If you are one of the many sufferers of receiving unsolicited mail or SPAM, have a look at www.caube.org.au there is a wealth of information to be had there. I would also make sure that my ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM is updated at least once a week, even every two days in the present climate. It does not take too much time and effort, as most programs have automatic download facilities. By the way do not forget to delete the previous updates. If you don’t you will accumulate a lot of useless files that are taking up space on your precious hard disk.

You can also minimize unwanted temporary files by going into TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS. In the drop down menu go to where the IE icon is, click on DELETE FILES. It will then ask you if you really want to do this. By saying YES you will get rid of your unwanted temporary files. Do this in the HISTORY FOLDER as well. Try and not make this folder too big. 7 days should be enough.
